Staff

At Artemis, we choose our staff for their ability to provide the optimum care and dedication to your child to the exacting standards you would expect as a parent.

Emma

My career in Early Years begun in 1998 as a Nursery Teacher in a Primary School in London. I was seconded in 2004 by Wandsworth Education Department to develop the Integrated Children’s Centres across the South of the borough and in 2007, along with my Brother and Sister in Law, we decided to open our first nursery in St Leonards on Sea. I have two degrees, a BA Hons in Early Childhood Studies and a BA in Early Years as well as my Early Years Teacher Status. I also have my Level 3 SENCO and am The Designated Safeguarding Lead. We now have three nurseries across Hastings and St Leonards and I get to work, every day with an amazing team of people.

Working with children and their families is the most rewarding job and we have been lucky to have been part of some of the most amazing children’s lives.

I became a Nana in 2022 and enjoy spending all my free time doing exciting things with him and my family.

Beth

Hollington

Hi, I’m Beth and I am the Manager at our Hollington site.
I started my childcare career as an apprentice in 2010 at our St Leonard’s site, where I completed my Level 3 whilst being in the Baby room. It was clear from the start of my childcare journey, that the Baby Room is where my strengths lie. When our new site opened in Hollington in September 2014, I became the Deputy Manager and Room Leader of the Baby Room. From this, my skillset and confidence grew and I was given the opportunity in 2017 to become the Nursery Manager and completed my Level 5 in Leadership and Management. Over the years I have completed many training courses and have just started my National Professional Qualification for Early Years Leadership to support my professional development and knowledge.

In 2021 I went on maternity leave to have my daughter Bonnie, who keeps me busy most weekends, enjoying family time and days out together.

Kirsty

Calvert

My name is Kirsty, I have been at Artemis for almost 11 years and the nursery manager for the last 5 years. I have my level 3 in childcare along with DSL training. I started as a nursery practitioner in our preschool room and loved this role, being part of the team for my first few years here. During this time I became deputy manager, gaining more skills and knowledge. Although I loved working with preschool aged children, a position arose in our baby room and I became a member of the baby room team. I loved learning lots about baby stages and was part of the baby team for a few years when I then stepped into the managers role in June 2019. I love the role and seeing how much our children learn and develop during their time with us.

I became a mum in 2022 which has been an incredible journey and keeps me busy in my spare time. I feel this has also given me added skills – having a parent view and approach to things.

Sophie

Chapelpark Road

My name is Sophie, and I’ve been part of the Artemis team for over 10 years. I started my journey here when I was 18 as a nursery practitioner in the baby room, and over the years I’ve worked my way up through different roles, including room leader, deputy manager and in 2020 I was thrilled to step into my current role as manager of the St Leonard’s site. I hold a Level 3 Childcare qualification and am also a Level 3 SENCO, which allows me to support children with additional needs and ensure every child in our care gets the best start.

Outside of work, I run an Allstar Cheerleading Programme, which I started in January 2015. I coach children and young adults aged 4-21, helping them develop skills, confidence, and teamwork. Working with children in both of my roles has been so rewarding, and I love supporting them as they grow and thrive.

“Children flourish in the inspiring and inclusive nursery environment. They are happy and confident and make excellent progress in all areas of their development.”
